Sweet Chai Oats
This is our all time favorite breakfast. You can even make it the night before, and take it on the go if you’re short on time in the a.m. – just add warm water before eating.
1 cup Rolled Oats
2 cups Water
2-3 Apples, chopped (or Pears)
¼ cup Raisins
2 tsp. Ginger, fresh, minced
1 tsp. Cinnamon, ground
1 tsp. Cardamom, ground
½ tsp. Nutmeg, ground
½ tsp. Cloves, ground
1 tsp. Rock Salt
1 tablespoon Agave Nectar (or Maple Syrup)
Boil water in medium pot. Add apples (or pears), raisins, ginger, and oats and turn heat to medium-low. Cook until water is absorbed and fruit is tender (about 5-10 minutes). Add spices, salt and agave, stir well and cook on low heat for another 1-2 minutes. Serve warm.
For additional nourishment, you can add almond milk, rice milk or hemp milk and/or ground flax seeds or tahini.
