About

Savor the Elements is a project of Erin Hannum with a vision of helping individuals, families and communities in achieving greater levels of health and well-being through a natural, whole foods diet and a balancing and uplifting lifestyle.

Erin Hannum is a Yoga and Ayurveda practitioner with a love for cooking who is inspired by how cooking and eating can support one’s health and overall quality of life. She has always had a passion for healthy cooking and eating. It goes hand-in-hand with her love for being in nature and efforts in advocating for more just and sustainable ways of being in the world.

Cooking became her favorite past-time while in law school and throughout her practice as an environmental lawyer. She was introduced to the science and philosophy of Ayurveda in Santa Barbara in 2003 and has since incorporated Ayurvedic principles in her own cooking and eating practices, and is grateful for its guidance in helping her to balance the demands of day to day life.

In 2009 she received her diploma to practice as an Ayurvedic Wellness Consultant through Kerala Ayurveda Academy.  She has also studied in India and has completed a clinical internship at the Dixit Health Clinic in Mysore  and Ayurvedic rejuvenation treatments (panchakarma) at the Poonthottam Ayurvedasramam in Kerela.

While formal training is essential, much of her learning has come from living these teachings in her daily life. Erin’s blog, “Food for Awakening” tracks her ongoing insights and experiments in cooking and eating to support well-being in mind, body and spirit.

Erin is also a dedicated practitioner of Ashtanga Yoga.  She believes that the ancient sister sciences and philosophies of Yoga and Ayurveda together encompass universal principles that can be practiced and applied to heal and balance the mind, body and soul of each individual, every local community, and our planet as a whole.

Erin and her husband Mike Hannum live in Spokane, WA.
