She specializes in preparing tasty, organic, and balancing vegetarian meals based on the principles of Ayurveda -- India's ancient science and philosophy of healing.
Erin prepares all meals by integrating and harmonizing the six tastes (sweet, sour, salty, pungent, astringent and bitter) -- which together embody a combination of the five elements (Ether, Air, Fire, Water, Earth). According to Ayurveda, these five great elements are the fundamental building blocks of all matter that exists in the universe, including our bodies and the food we eat. It is said that by eating the proper combination of the six tastes (elements) for our unique body-mind type, we can heal and balance our body, mind and spirit. In this way, food is our ultimate medicine.
Erin applies Ayurvedic priniples not just to Indian food, but to a variety of cuisines -- including Italian, Thai, Japanese, Meditarranean, and Cal-Mex. She uses organic, seasonal, and local ingredients, purchases fresh vegetables and fruits from local farmers, and makes personalized organic spice blends. Reflecting these principles, each dish Erin prepares is full of vibrant, unique, and diverse flavors, and as well is balancing and healing for each individual's body-mind type.
Erin's aspiration is that we all begin to more consiously Savor the Elements -- that is, to appreciate fully, enjoy and relish the fundamental elements of our bodies and vibrant tastes of our food, and in turn be blessed with joy and healing in eating!
